Winter Open Apiary Monthly
Meetings will be held the third Saturday of each cold month. We encourage continued learning and the short days and long nights of winter make for perfect learning opportunities. Thanks to Becky Tipton from Kansas for sharing tips on rendering bees’ wax. Review was made of the website and an introduction to Great Plains Master Beekeeping free learning courses.
Use the Forward Looking Infrared Technology FLIR to do a “winter inspection” on your hive! HMPB is finding tools to help beekeepers. One way to be a better beekeeper is to understand where your bees are located during the winter - and if they are still alive. This device fits right into your phone (iPhone and Android) and “sees” heat. The bright spot on the hive here is heat from bees. Send in your request to reserve this amazing tool to hmpandb.org@gmail.com for your one week use.

Limited space for these two free Introduction to Beekeeping classes to be held at the Teton Raptor Center. No live bees.

Open Apiary
During the summer months, we offer an Open Apiary learning experience for all stages of beekeepers and interested public. Don’t have a bee suit? No worries, we have a full suit and gloves for your experience. In the winter, training continues on in a virtual format.
When the weather is too cold for opening hives, we go to a virtual “Winter Open Apiary” online training. Often bringing in speakers, topics include products from bees, hardware maintenance, bee biology, and other learning topics.
Coming Spring 2023! We will be launching the Teton County Open Apiary at the Teton Raptor Center in Wilson, Wyoming! Watch for announcements and opportunities at this new location.
